“Tony’s the name, smashin’ omega pussy is the game!” he announced as he lumbered over to me and took another puff of his cigar.
Did he just say “omega pussy?”
His eyes were filled with lust, and as he looked at me, I felt my stomach heave like I was about to throw up.
“What’s yer name?”
I knew I should speak, but my body simply wouldn’t respond. I opened my mouth but the words didn’t come. Tony kicked me with an enormous foot.
“I said what’s yer name, boy?”
“Blue!” I stammered. “My name’s Blue.”
“Blue,” he mused. “Just like my balls! But not for long! I know Larcon’s got his “me first” rule, but what Larcon doesn’t know won’t hurt him, am I right?”
Oh, no…I began to panic as Tony unlocked my chain and began to pull me towards the back door.
“The rest of you keep quiet!” he snapped as he pulled the door open and dragged me out into the yard. I tried to grab at the doorframe, but as soon as my fingers found wood, he tugged my chain and easily pulled me out, almost snapping my arm off in the process.
“No!” I screamed. But Tony’s meaty hand slapped across my mouth to silence me. My tongue pressed against his palm. I tasted salt and cigar and gagged. My stomach heaved. This time, I really was going to throw up.
“Pipe down, fresh meat,” he growled. “Or I’ll break your ankle.”
He removed his hand, and I did as I was told. There was no reason to make this worse for myself. After all, who was going to save me here anyway?
He tugged my chain and began to march me towards the forest.
There? I thought as he muttered to himself and puffed his cigar. Something sharp stuck in my foot and I stumbled. Tony growled back at me.
“Keep up, keep up!” But before he could finish, a blindingly fast shadow streaked out of the darkness and slammed into him. He may have been a big son of a bitch, but the force of the blow caused him to stagger sideways, tripping over himself. He yanked the chain out of reflex and I began to fall, but before I hit the ground, I saw him—Alexander, in his wolf form, baring his teeth at Tony as he readied himself to strike.
You came! My fated-mate, you came!
Chapter Twenty-One
Alexander
My legs were tense and flexed. My fangs were extended and Tony, the tubby disgusting slug of a man. was staggering like an old drunk. Even if he managed to not fall over, he was vulnerable to attack, and for the moment, Blue was free.
I leapt at Tony’s exposed neck, ready to sink my teeth into his neck, but something happened. The son of a bitch might have been a gluttonous rapist, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew he couldn’t recover from my hit and was sure to fall, leaving himself open, so before that happened, he shifted.
As he took his wolf form, the target I’d picked out on him moved ever so slightly, but just enough that I missed and hurtled over him. I’d anticipating hitting him and aimed my jump accordingly, but now I found myself flailing through the air like a gymnast who’d hit the bounce pad wrong and was about to slam into the pommel horse, completely out of control.
“Alexander!” Blue cried out. I tucked my head as I hit the ground and managed to twist myself into a roll that conserved my momentum and threw me to my feet. I twisted around to face Tony, who was an absolute monster in his wolf form, looking like a direwolf from Game of Thrones that had caught some terrible disease.
Thick sputum hung from his lips as he snarled at me. His smell was disgusting, like salt flats at low tide, or fish left in the fridge for two months past its use-by date. Thankfully, he’d forgotten about Blue, who was crawling backwards away from the battle.
Run, my mate! I thought as I faced off with the Kurren bastard.
But Blue didn’t run. He cowered behind the trunk of a tree, his eyes filled with concern as he looked at me. The chain and collar around his neck made my heart break, and when I thought about what Eric had done, I was overcome with rage.
I darted towards Tony, hoping my speed would make up for his overwhelming size. I aimed my jaws at his left front leg, but it was a feint. He reacted more quickly than I’d anticipated, and twisted away from my jaws. But that was exactly what I’d been hoping he’d do.
Planting my paws in the tough earth, I vaulted to the left, my true target, and sank my teeth into his right leg. It wasn’t the best bite, and Tony was able to pull himself free quickly, but it was enough to draw blood. He yelped slightly, his voice hoarse and raspy, and I wasted no time following up with my next attack.
He swung out with a claw as I darted towards his left hind quarters. I ducked under the sweeping blow and drove my nose into the soft skin of his belly where his leg met his body. He coughed as I knocked the wind out of him and I threw everything I had into a slamming attack designed to knock him off balance. My shoulder slammed into his ribcage and I heard one of them crack. He nipped at me, catching my front left leg and tearing flesh, but I simply could not be stopped. I was here to save my fated-mate and nothing was going to stop me—especially not some disgusting, out-of-shape Kurren scumbag.
I lifted my snout and threw him. Well—any ordinary-sized shifter would have been thrown, but Tony was such a heifer that I only managed to twist him off his feet. But that was all I needed. As he fell onto his side, roaring with anger, I aimed my teeth for his neck. This time, I found it with ease. But instead of clamping down and severing his arteries, which I could have done, I held back. I closed down with just enough pressure that he understood. He couldn’t move lest he risk ripping himself open on my teeth, and if I applied another ounce of pressure, his life would be over.
I growled, asserting my dominance and my status as the victor. I heard the metallic clang of Blue’s chain as he emerged from his hiding place and came over to me. He took my side as I held Tony’s neck, blood dripping from my arm to the ground below.
“Shift back,” Blue said simply. He was standing close enough that I could glance over at him and I saw that he’d found Tony’s keys where they’d fallen when he shifted. He spun them around one of his fingers. “Shift back!”
After a long moment, Tony listened. He retook his human form and I readjusted my position over his smaller body—not much smaller, of course. I had him for sure now. There was nothing he could do.
Beside me, Blue used the key to unlock the collar around his neck. If I could have smiled then I would have. My mate was a quick one. He freed himself then knelt down beside his former captor.
“You guys are some real evil cunts, you know that?” he said. I straddled Tony’s enormously obese body and pressed down on him with all my weight. Then I slowly removed my teeth from his neck.
“You guys are gonna get it—”
Blue’s fist slammed into his neck, silencing him instantly. He coughed, desperately trying to suck air as Blue secured the collar around his neck and slapped the lock shut.
“Come on, big boy,” he said as he stood up and tugged on the chain.
The slave has become the master, I thought as I got off the horrible body and became the prisoner’s escort as Blue led him back towards the barn. I was pheromone-blocked, but still glanced around the rest of the compound in case any Kurrens had decided to come outside for an evening smoke or a star-gazing party or whatever. The goal here was to get Blue back with minimal confrontation and no loss of life. Then the peace could still be maintained—hopefully.
It wasn’t what I wanted, but it was what was necessary. The rest of the pack’s lives were at stake. If I’d had another four Alexanders with me, I would have just brought them here and killed everyone. But it wasn’t like that.
“No!” Tony cried out as Blue pulled him through the back door of the barn. “No!”
A hard backhand from me silenced him, and I kicked him in the back and drove him inside. He toppled over and landed hard on the wooden floor. The other three omegas, all chained up like Blue must have been moments ago, scampered away in fright.
&
nbsp; “Don’t worry,” I told them. “You’re all right.”
“You sons of bitches,” Tony growled. “We’re gonna get you.”
Blue led Tony, on his hands and knees, over to a free pipe and secured the chain to it. He held the key so Tony could see it, then walked away.
“No, you’re not, Tony,” I said, standing tall above him. “I could have killed you, but I didn’t. You’re going to tell that to Larcon, and you’re going to respect the peace that’s been going on between our packs, and if any of you show your face on the other side of the peak, you’re going to wish you’d never left your rag-tag redneck compound in the first place. Clarice is off-limits to every Kurren. Find your own healer from now on.”
“Piece of shit—”
I kicked him in the guts to shut him up. It was a little bit cruel, but I had no sympathy for someone who participated in a captive harem and would lead an omega around by a chain attached to a collar around his neck.
But as I turned around and looked at the rest of Larcon’s harem, the three desperate-looking omegas all chained in the same way, I realized I faced a terrible choice. I could free them, furthering Larcon’s rage and risking breaking the peace (which I already could have done), or I could leave them there and hope Larcon understood what I’d done and would abide by the terms I’d given Tony.
But when I looked down at Blue as he came over next to me, and pictured him chained there as a slave with no one to rescue him, I knew that I couldn’t leave without doing the right thing.
“Blue,” I said, motioning to the others. “They’re coming with us.”
Chapter Twenty-Two
Blue
I was elated as we ran through the woods back to Alexander’s home at the base of Mist Peak. The sun was dipping below the horizon and the wind was warm. I ran beside him, my fated-mate and now my savior, while the three omegas we’d rescued from Larcon’s captivity ran behind us.
We had to keep our pace down, as the poor boys had been chained up and hadn’t shifted for so long that they were not only horribly out of shape but also were not used to their wolf bodies. They panted behind us, but none of them ever once slowed or stopped. I think they were just happy to be running again.
Despite my happiness, tears streamed from my eyes as we ran. Alexander had come for me. My beautiful, strong, incredible fated-mate had saved me from a terrible, unimaginable fate and he was taking me home. To top it all off, I was in heat.
I wasn’t sure if he’d even noticed yet—he’d been so caught up in battle. I couldn’t smell him at all. He must have used pheromone blockers for his attack on the Kurren compound so he could enter undetected. As I looked over at him and swooned over his healthy chestnut-colored coat and incredible physique, I longed for him to take me and put a cub in my belly. I felt as though I’d been waiting my entire life for it.
In time.
As we came upon the house, a terrible thought entered my mind.
My father!
His truck was in the driveway, and I realized that not only had I run off him when he came to pick me up after school, but I also hadn’t been at Alexander’s when he eventually drove over there, which I should have seen coming. I couldn’t even imagine the amount of shit I was about to catch from him.
We shifted when we reached the driveway. Jasper, who was standing on the steps, apparently ensuring he’d removed all the glass shards that had fallen when I smashed through the door, looked up as we approached.
“Oh, shit!” he gasped. “You found him! Are you okay, Blue?”
“I’m fine,” I replied. “My neck’s a little sore, but Alexander’s wounded.”
“I’ll get Clarice.” He stepped inside but stopped and turned back to us. “Oh, and Blue? Your dad’s inside…”
“Yeah, I saw the truck. How is he? Pissed?”
“Yeah…he’s something.”
Jasper went back inside. After a moment, Tyrese came out. His eyes went wide as he saw the three omegas with us.
“Oh, shit,” he said. “Is that what I think it is?”
“Larcon’s harem,” Alexander replied. “Ex-harem. Can you take them inside and get them situated, clothed, give them something to eat?”
“Of course, Alexander,” he said, turning to the boys. “My name’s Tyrese. Come with me.”
He led them inside, leaving Alexander and me standing alone at the steps. I turned to him and when I saw the look in his eyes, my heart leapt.
“Your heat,” he whispered. “It came.”
“I was wondering when you would notice,” I whispered back as he instantly pressed his body against mine and kissed me.
“Fuck, I want to take you right here and right now,” he told me as he inhaled deeply, completely filling his lungs with my scent, making me feel like the most important boy in the world. “But your father’s inside…”
“I know,” I groaned. “He’s going to kill me.”
“You shouldn’t have run off from school like that,” he replied.
“Please don’t say that,” I laughed. “I don’t need two fathers.”
“No, but you do need a daddy.”
I looked up and he winked at me, then planted a huge kiss on my lips. My cock began to move and I quickly pushed him away.
“I can’t go see my dad with a boner!”
Alexander clamped his hand over his mouth to stifle his laugh. “You’re right. Okay, I’m gonna go see Clarice about this wound. Are you going to be all right?”
“He’s my dad. I don’t think he’ll kill me…I hope.”
Alexander kissed me again on the cheek and squeezed my butt. “Just call if you need me.”
He smiled at me once more, melting my heart like warm butter yet again, then entered through the broken door. I took a deep breath and followed.
My father was leaning against the wall by the door to the kitchen, arms folded across his chest, a look on his face that wasn’t quite anger. It was more like he was fed up, exhausted after having spent an hour worrying about me.
“Look who it is,” he muttered as I came in. He leaned down and tossed me a set of sweatpants he’d gotten from somewhere—probably Alexander’s room. “Get dressed.”
I instantly obeyed, of course. I wasn’t thrilled about being stark naked in front of my father. Once I was covered, he looked up at me and shook his head.
“What were you thinking, Blue?”
“I’m sorry, dad,” I told him. I really was. “I—I just really wanted to see him.”
“Alexander,” he replied. “Your fated-mate?”
“That’s right. I know you don’t believe me, but it’s true!”
“I believe you,” my dad replied, to my astonishment. “This is going to be hard for me to say, Blue, but when you first told me you’d found your fated-mate…it wasn’t that I didn’t believe you…I was jealous.”
Did he just say that?
“I—I don’t understand.”
“I thought I’d found the one with Louis,” he said sadly. “But when he cheated on me, I realized that everything I had believed had been wrong. Not only had he betrayed and hurt me, but he messed up your life too. So when after only a single day in Sleepy Hills, you told me you’d found your fated-mate…I guess I just felt like a failure.”
“You’re not a failure, dad!” I cried out, rushing up and hugging him as tightly as I could. “None of that is your fault. You did what you thought was best by bringing me here, and while I really didn’t want to come originally, it turned out to be the best decision you ever made. If we hadn’t come to Sleepy Hills, I never would have found Alexander.”
“I know that now,” my father replied. “But it took me a second to come around.”
“And I’m sorry for running off on you,” I told him. “I wasn’t thinking, but I—I went into heat and I had to see him.”
It felt strange admitting that I’d gone into heat to my father. Not only was it intensely personal, but at the same time I was also letting him know that not
only did I want to have sex with Alexander, but that we’d already had sex once before. Thankfully, my dad didn’t get all awkward, he simply smiled and understood. Hey—my father had been a young man at one point too!
“I just want you safe,” my father told me. “And I don’t know what’s going to happen between these two packs, but I think you’re too caught up in it now to get out. If you are intent on being with Alexander, which I know you are, the best thing I can do for you is accept this relationship and do everything I can to make it work and keep you safe.”
His words were better than anything I could have imagined. If I hadn’t already been crying, I would have started then. More tears streaked down my cheeks and fell at my feet. I looked at my father like he was a new man. He’d opened up to me and it felt incredible. He had accepted my relationship with Alexander, and even though there were plenty of hardships ahead, I had him on my side.
“Thank you, dad,” I told him, leaning my head against his chest. He patted me on the head and held me.
“You mean the world to me, Blue,” he told me.
“I love you, dad.”
“I love you too.”
I held him for a long time, then finally stepped back and wiped my eyes. “I should go see how Alexander is doing.”
“I’m sure he’s fine,” dad replied. “He’s a tough guy.”
“I know,” I laughed. “It’s great!”
Chapter Twenty-Three
Alexander
“No need for stitches,” Clarice said as she tended to the cut on my arm that Tony had given me. She applied an antiseptic ointment, as shifter bites could get easily infected (like cat bites) and began wrapping it with gauze. I barely even felt the sting. My mind was on other things: Blue, the other omegas, Tony, Larcon and the peace, but most of all, Eric’s betrayal.
